Cooking Time: 25 minutes
Buffalo wings are a popular American dish consisting of deep-fried chicken wings coated in a spicy, tangy sauce. Named after the city of Buffalo, New York (where they originated), they’re typically served with celery sticks and blue cheese or ranch dressing to balance the heat. Buffalo wings have become a mainstay in American food culture, especially popular in bars, sports events, and as an appetizer or snack.

Ingredients (Serves 4)
For the Wings:
2 lbs chicken wings, split into wingettes and drumettes, wing tips removed
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Oil, for frying (vegetable or canola)
For the Buffalo Sauce:
1/2 cup hot sauce (like Frank’s RedHot)
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1 tablespoon vinegar (optional, for extra tang)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
For Serving:
Celery sticks
Carrot sticks
Blue cheese or ranch dressing
Instructions
Prep the Wings
Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels, which helps them get crispy.
Season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
Fry the Wings
Heat oil in a deep fryer or a large pot to 350°F (175°C).
Fry the wings in batches for 10-12 minutes, until golden and crispy. Drain them on a paper towel-lined plate.
Alternative: If you’d like a healthier option, bake them! Place the wings on a baking sheet, coat lightly with oil, and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 40-45 minutes, turning halfway.
Make the Buffalo Sauce
In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the hot sauce, vinegar, and garlic powder, stirring until smooth.
Remove from heat once combined.
Coat the Wings
Place the fried (or baked) wings in a large mixing bowl.
Pour the Buffalo sauce over the wings, tossing until evenly coated.
Serve
Serve the wings with celery sticks, carrot sticks, and blue cheese or ranch dressing on the side.
